This is a standout, magnificent sapphire and diamond cluster ring. A rich, dark blue, rub-over set 2.60ct Oval Sapphire is surrounded by a halo of 2.65ct of white, clean old mine cut diamonds. The diamonds are in delicate millegrain settings and the ring has an ornate hand carved gallery. The sapphire is shallow with a wide spread, so it gives great finger coverage and is a real statement on the hand. The ring dates to the late 1800s' / early 1900's and is reminiscent of the classic royal engagement ring belonging the Duchess of Cambridge.
