Natural saltwater pearls are rare - and in the 1800's they were found individually by divers, who searched thousands of oysters for a viable pearl. Because of this, they were more valuable than diamonds and well loved by the Victorians and Edwardians. This is a delicate and pretty strand of natural pearls, they graduate slightly in size, getting larger towards the middle of the string. It has a lovely flower clasp that is studded with 9 old mine cut diamonds.
