This ornate Guilloché enamel brooch is Edwardian in era, and is believed to be from Austria. It features a beautiful blue patterned enamel decorated with a cream enamel and 18ct gold border and pattern of intricate small rose cut diamonds. It has a standard pin clasp fastening.
Guilloche enameling involves engraving a finely detailed pattern onto a base material - in this case onto polished gold. A colored enamel is then applied. The finished results is a beautifully patterned enamel which throws the design into brilliant, high relief.
