'Pool of Light' is a name given to orbs of rock crystal, or quartz, as they capture and refract light in beautiful ways. They were popular in the early 1900's to the 1930's. This particular pool of light is also a locket, and a token of love - perhaps a lock of hair, a dried flower or photo, could be kept within and magnified by the crystal, giving it almost magical qualities.
